Are you part of a group that takes turns coordinating dinner periodically, say once a month? If so, from putting the word out to ordering from a Chinese restaurant, here are some ideas that might help you to plan a fun and memorable event.

A Theme - Do you get to select a theme when it's your turn to plan dinner for your group? If so, consider choosing a unique theme. For example, Night In China would more than likely be something your group has not done before. Although it's simple to invite everybody to your event by phone, text or email, think of sending actual invitations in the mail. It would be simple to create your own invitation. For instance, you could put a picture of the Great Wall of China on the front of your invitation, or you could also sketch a pair of chopsticks and add words like Chop! Chop! Get Yourself To Our Chinese Dinner!  A simple red background with flowers as part of the design of the invitation would be nice, too. Besides the usual information on your invitation, remember to add an RSVP so that you'll have a pretty good idea of how many guests will be coming to your house. To add to the fun, you might suggest that your guests dress in Chinese style. For sure wear a kimono yourself!

The Food - Unless you want to go to a great deal of work and unless you are already gifted in the art of Chinese cooking, consider having your dinner delivered by a Chinese restaurant. If you're not sure what to order, just talk to the manager and get ideas from him or her. Be sure to tell the manager how many guests you'll be having. The recommendation will probably include a form of Chinese soup, two or three main courses like Almond Chicken and Teriyaki Beef and sides like rice and steamed vegetables. Don't forget to ask for sweet and sour sauce and for soy sauce. And, of course, even though a dessert might be recommended, you'll want to order fortune cookies. Part of the fun will be to have everybody read his or her fortune cookies at the end of the meal.

Everybody loves party favors, right? As your guests go home, think of sending them home with their very own pair of chopsticks and a bag of fortune cookies. Visit a site like http://www.lilacblossomrestaurant.com for more.
